About the Designer
Somie probably was (and still is) the only third grader who invited all her friends to screen Franco Zefferrelli’s film, La Traviata, for Piero Tosi’s costumes. (And, of course, for Verdi’s music and Domingo’s voice.) Despite her penchant for period costumes and her love of theatre and fashion, costume design did not enter her life until 2014 when she was asked to be the costume designer for two world premiere plays. The rest, as they so shrewdly say, was history.
A self-proclaimed nerd and geek, Somie is a graduate of the University of Michigan and is a costume designer/stylist based in NYC. Outside of design work, she enjoys moonlighting as Nurse Patchit for Cosplay 911 at New York Comic Con (Check out the Cosplay911 tab), styling/dressing models for photoshoots and NYFW, traveling to Paris at every possible opportunity, and picking out the right sash for her World Domination poster.
